A six-year-old boy and a man were killed when a truck and a bakkie collided on the R59 near Vereeniging on Friday.
A six-year-old boy and a man were killed while a woman and one-year-old baby were injured in an accident in Vereeniging.
According to ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring the accident happened on Friday afternoon.
Meiring said the accident happened on the R59 near the Voortrekker offramp in Vereeniging.
“A bakkie and truck collided on the R59 near the Voortrekker offramp in Vereeniging.”
Meiring said paramedics and other services arrived on the scene to find the wrecked bakkie on the side of the road against the barriers.
“A man was lying on the bonnet of the bakkie while the 6-year-old boy was lying in front of the vehicle.”

He said the mother and other child were found walking around on the scene.
“Medics assessed the patients and found that the six-year-old had already succumbed to his numerous injuries.”
Meiring said nothing could be done for the little boy, and he was declared dead on scene.
“The man was in critical condition while the woman and one year old escaped with minor injuries.
“Medics treated the patients and provided the critically injured man with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent care.”
He furthermore said the critically injured man, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated accident in Carletonville, three women were injured in a two-vehicle collision.
Meiring said the accident happened on Friday afternoon.
“Three women were injured yesterday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision at the Tugela and Onyx Road intersection in Carletonville.”
He said paramedics and the Provincial Services arrived on the scene at 12h36 and found the two vehicles on the side of the road.
Three women were found around the cars.
“Medics assessed the women and found that one had sustained serious injuries while the two others had sustained moderate injuries.”
Medics treated the patients and after that transported them to Carletonville Provincial Hospital for further care.
“Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
