The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has unveiled the payment schedule for old age social grants for January 2024.
The first payment date of the month has been exclusively designated for older persons. Ensuring a timely distribution of crucial financial support.

SASSA old age grants payment date
Elderly beneficiaries can expect their payments to be disbursed starting on 3 January 2024. Marking the initiation of the payout cycle for the new financial year.
However, SASSA has issued a vital reminder to beneficiaries, underscoring the closure of all remaining SASSA and Postbank Cash Points (CPPs) throughout January to March 2024.

The phasing-out process, as outlined in an official statement from SASSA, is set to occur gradually, commencing in January 2024. Aiming to conclude by 31 March 2024.
This strategic move aligns with the agency’s objective to cease all CPP and Post Office branch grant payments within the specified timeframe.

Other options for beneficiaries during transition
SASSA has provided alternative methods for beneficiaries to access their funds during this transition period.
The statement mentions, “This includes making purchases in any retailer that has a point of sale to swipe for goods or withdrawing funds from any retailer that provides a cashback functionality.”
