An Indonesian man who fractured his penis during sex with his wife has been diagnosed with a condition “eggplant deformity,” according to International Journal of Surgery Case Reports.
The 50-year-old went to hospital and claimed his penis had been swollen for hours. He told doctors he felt a crack during intercourse, while his wife was in the cowgirl position. A sharp pain then followed and he lost erection. The man suffered urethral bleeding and an inability to ejaculate.
Eggplant deformity generally occurs after the penis slips out of the vagina during sex and strikes the female genitalia, according to a case study published in 2015 in the Medical Journal Armed Forces India. If it is left untreated, the condition can lead to permanent disfigurement and impotence.
HOW DOCTORS FIXED MAN’S FRACTURED PENIS
According to the journal, the doctors cut open the man’s penis and fixed the fractured urethra and penis tissue with soluble stitches. They then drained the hematoma and then tested his penile function with an “artificial erection.”
The man stayed in hospital for just five days and had to use a urethral catheter that he was forced to pee through for the next 21 days.
Urologist Dr Muhlis Yusuf, one of the doctors who treated the man, said various sexual positions could result in such penis fractures.
“The most common vigorous sexual position was doggy style. Another study also reported that penile fracture usually occurs if the woman is in a superior position,” Yusuf said.
