Woman who woke up at own funeral now declared DEAD

More than a week after being wrongfully declared dead, authorities have confirmed that an elderly woman has passed away. In a story that shocked the world, 76-year-old Bella Montoya from Ecuador gave mourners who were attending her funeral something to remember when she regained consciousness and started banging on her coffin.

International media reported that relatives who were in attendance opened her coffin and medics were soon called to the scene.

“Her left hand was hitting the side of the coffin and it was shaking,” her son Gilbert Balberan told local media at the time.

HOW DID BELLA MONTOYA EVENTUALLY DIE?

Now it is being reported that Montoya, a retired nurse, eventually died on Friday evening, 16 June 2023, after spending about a week in intensive care following her so-called resurrection.

“This time my mother really did die. My life will not be the same,” Balberan is quoted as having told the BBC.

According to the country’s Health Ministry, Montoya died in intensive care from an ischemic stroke while she was being watched under “permanent surveillance.”

CARDIORESPIRATORY ARREST LINKED TO MONTOYA’S FIRST ‘DEATH’

The woman’s initial ‘death’ was linked to cardiorespiratory arrest – and confirmed by the medical examiner who even provided her son with the death certificate. Balberan told media that the wake was held just four hours after his mother had been declared dead.

Balberan said the cardiorespiratory arrest caused his mother to suffer catalepsy, which is a condition characterised by a trance or seizure with a loss of sensation and consiousness, accompanied by rigidity in the body.
