Did you know that South Africans also make some great desserts. We may not have invented most pastries or cakes but we have peppermint crisp tart and that is true joy. With just a few ingredients, you can turn this iconic dessert into and easy peppermint fridge cake. It’s bigger and better with everything combining to make the perfect braai dessert. It’s great for those weekends with friends when you have lots of guests.
Instead of just making a buttery crust with the Tennis Biscuits, they go into the cake for some extra texture. You’ll be using the chocolate in the mix and on top. The caramel is rich and sweet but when folded into the whooped cream is nice and light, almost like mousse. This recipe is best made the day before but it sets quite easily so you can still make it with a few hours to go before dessert time, especially during a South African braai.
