Doughnuts With Cinnamon and Sugar

Forget the strenuous kneading and time it takes to make doughnuts. You don’t need a food processor with a dough hook as this recipe can be made by hand, as it requires no kneading. Even though you will need to let the yeast rise for a while, the actual cooking time is quick so these puff balls of delight make for an excellent afternoon treat.

You can dip these doughnuts in chocolate or transform them into traditional jam doughnuts by filling them with your favourite fruity flavoured jam.

Quick and easy no-knead doughnut recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups 2 cake flour

  • 240 ml 240 warm milk

  • 5 gr 5 or 1/2 packet of instant yeast

  • cinnamon sugar and rainbow sprinkles to serve

  • oil for deep-frying

Method

  • Add the yeast to the warm milk allow to foam up for 5 minutes.
  • Sift the flour into a bowl and add the milk and yeast mixture stirring with a wooden spoon until combined.
  • Cover the dough with cling-film and allow to rise in a warm, draft-free spot for two hours.
  • Once the dough has risen, heat oil and using an ice-cream scoop, scoop mixture into the hot oil and deep-fry until golden brown.
  • Transfer the cooked doughnuts into cinnamon sugar and sprinkles and enjoy.

Notes

  • You can drizzle the doughnuts with melted chocolate and sprinkles for an even better result.
