Add a flair from Mexico to mealtimes with this savoury sheet pan nachos supreme recipe. Crunchy tortilla chips loaded with ground beef, gooey cheese sauce, chives, sour cream and a variety of mouth-watering toppings and you have a meal everyone will jump to.

This recipe includes seasoned ground beef but if you are not in the mood for beef, you can use any other ground meat or even a meat alternative to make this recipe vegetarian friendly. 

Another vital ingredient is nacho cheese sauce to make this dish unforgettable. You can either use a store-bought cheese sauce or make one at home.

Topping suggestions for your sheet pan nachos

To give some additional delight to this meal, what about some black beans to give it some more substance? Chopped jalapeños add that typical Mexican feel to any dish and avocado will give you a good punch of good fats to include in your diet.

And then finally for those of us who love hot food, don’t forget the hot sauce and salsa. Enjoy!

  • 275 bag 275 bag of tortilla chips of your choice

  • ½ cup of cheese also of your choice

  • 500 g 500 ground beef

  • 2 tbsp 2 of olive oil

  • 1 shallot or small onion peeled and chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic minced

  • 1 package 1 of taco seasoning store bought or homemade

  • ¼ cup of water

  • 1½ cups of nacho cheese sauce (homemade or store-bought)

  • 2 tomatoes seeds removed and chopped

  • 1 small bunch of scallions/chives chopped

  • ¾ cup of sour cream

  • Extra toppings
  • black beans

  • chopped jalapeños

  • sliced avocados

  • hot sauce

  • salsa


  • Preheat the oven to 190°C.
  • Heat oil in a skillet to medium heat and add the onion and garlic and sauté for a couple of minutes until onion is softened then add meat and brown until cooked through. Drain off the fat if needed and then add the taco seasoning plus water. Let simmer until sauce has thickened- 2-4 minutes and remove from heat but keep warm.
  • In the meantime line a baking sheet with parchment and spread tortilla chips on a sheet pan in one even layer.
  • Layer with the shredded cheese and nacho cheese sauce and bake for 5-8 minutes until cheese is melted and hot.
  • Remove from the oven and top with warm ground meat, and then with the sour cream, tomatoes and green onions and serve immediately.
