Swazi-South African actress Amanda du-Pont introduces a new character to her fans – Blessing on new horror film The Domestic.
AMANDA DU-PONT ON PLAYING BLESSING
Amanda du-Pont plays the role of Blessing in the new horror film The Domestic. Blessings was gifted a spiritual gift by her ancestors but chooses to use it for evil. Amanda told Tshisa Live that playing the role of Blessings was scary at times.
“Playing Blessing was a thrilling experience. However, there were some really scary moments on set for all of us. Although this was the world of make believe there were moments where the weather would change dramatically during rituals in scenes. I would think is that really the weather or did it awaken something,” she said to Tshisa Live.
Aside from being scary at the times, the role was also challenging for the actress. This was because she needed to make mannerisms seem a bit off as she is someone who is spiritually intune.
“The challenge, however, was to make these mannerisms seem a bit off to how it’s supposed to be done. Showing clearly she didn’t represent attributes of pure hearted healer. She was concerned with her own agenda, which she believed was to the benefit of Kat,” she continued.
The Domestic is streaming on Amazon Prime.

“A thrilling horror. An upper class married couple hire the daughter of their recently deceased housekeeper as their new helper. Only for things to take a dark turn when she tries to destroy them from within. I play the character of Blessing who uses her ancestral spiritual gift to destroy those around her from within,” reads the film’s synopsis according to Amanda’s Instagram.

- The Domestic is written and directed by Brad Katzen.
- The film is based on a wealthy couple, who takes in their helper’s daughter as their new helper after she dies.
- Tumisho Masha plays the character of Tumi.
- Thuli Thabethe plays Tumi’s wife Kat.
