FROM A SHARK TO A BEAR CUB – THESE ROYALS ALL HAVE TATTOOS

Within the royal family, there are loads of protocols. Even the colour of nail polish they are permitted to wear at official royal events is regulated, as per MailOnline.

But from time to time, a royal goes rogue. These members of the royal family all got inked.

PRINCESS EUGENIE

The Duke of York’s youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, has a tattoo of a tiny circle behind her ear. The ink was first spotted at the Platinum Jubilee National Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the late Queen Elizabeth’s reign.

Although the exact meaning behind the tattoo is unknown, it might represent the circle of life.

LADY AMELIA WINDSOR

The granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth’s cousin, the Duke of Kent, Lady Amelia Windsor, is reportedly the first royal to display her tattoos in public proudly.
Yes, she has more than one. The model and socialite boast a small circular design on her rib, three bear cubs on her arm, and a tiger on her back.

In an interview with Elle UK, the bear cubs are a sweet tribute to the bond she and her two siblings, Lady Marina and Edward Windsor, share.

“One [tattoo] is of three bear cubs, which represent my brother, sister and I because we saw three cubs in Canada when we were really little and thought they were us on the beach,” she told the publication. “It was a really magical moment,” she added.

In an interview with FEMAIL, Grant Harrold, known as The Royal Butler, said:

“Lady Amelia Windsor is not a senior royal or a princess.”

“As we know, she is not even in the top 30 in line to the throne, so she will be aware that she can get away with personal choices such as tattoos or modeling for international fashion houses,” he added.

PRINCESS SOFIA OF SWEDEN

Unlike Lady Amelia Windsor, Princess Sofia is a more senior member of the Swedish Royal Family, but she proudly displays her tattoos, even when conducting royal duties.

The royal, who married Prince Carl Phillip in 2015, has a sun tattoo on her back and a small ink on her ankle. According to MailOnline, she also has a butterfly inked to her ribcage and had another tattoo on her arm removed before her engagement to the Prince.

CROWN PRINCE FREDERIK OF DENMARK

But it’s not only female royals who got inked. The heir to the Denmark throne, Crown Prince Frederik, has a tattoo on his arm and a shark inked on his calf, according to MaiOnline.

The shark is reportedly the symbol of the Danish Navy’s elite frogman corps, while the tattoo on his arm refers to the nickname Pingu given to him after completing his training as a Frogman. The unit comprises professional divers and commandos trained to assault enemy ships and combat advanced force and maritime anti-terrorism tasks.

He also has a tattoo on his shoulder.
