Princess Charlene of Monaco recently shared new photos of her time in South Africa.

It seems that Princess Charlene is still in South Africa after undergoing “multiple, complicated” procedures after contracting an ear, nose and throat infection in May, while Prince Albert is flying solo at ongoing events in Monaco.

Princess Charlene recovering in South Africa

According to People, Princess Charlene remains physically separated from her husband and her children, Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, as she recuperates from a painful surgery – but is seemingly finding small ways to maintain as much emotional closeness as possible and to show the twins her love and affection.

The princess has not been in Monaco since January. Luckily, her children and husband (who is facing another paternity suit over a love child born in the early years of their relationship) visited her in June.

Spending time with Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques

While she also shared pics of their visit, she went on to share a new update on Instagram on 9 July saying that she is spending time with Jacqui and Bella[;] “making blankets for the crèche next door. Wish me luck”.

In the photos, the royal chats on FaceTime with her six-year-olds and blows each of them a kiss.

The photos also show the South African-raised former Olympic swimmer sporting a shorter hairstyle, standing proudly next to a sewing machine she is using for a service project and standing in a selfie pose in front of conservation posters that say “SAVE OUR ELEPHANTS” and “SAVE THE RHINO!” as she holds up the phone, presumably showing the posters off to Jacques and Isabella.

Save the rhino

Before she contracted the infection, Princess Charlene returned to South Africa in order to raise awareness about rhino poaching, according to SA People. Photos on her Instagram page, posted on Thursday, 20 May 2021, show the 43-year-old princess out in the bush with her arms around an anesthetised rhino while its horn is being cut off.

A wedding anniversay

On 1 July, Princess Charlene shared a video documenting her royal wedding to Prince Albert on her official Instagram page after the couple spent their 10th anniversary apart.

Princess Charlene shared the two-minute long video, titled Chapter 1: A New Princess for Monaco, on her official account.

In a statement, Charlene explained she would not return to her family in time for the anniversary, saying that this is the first year that she will not be with her husband on their anniversary.

“It is difficult and saddens me. However, Albert and I had no choice but to follow the medical team’s instructions even though it is extremely difficult. He has been the most incredible support to me. My daily conversations with Albert and my children help immensely to keep my spirits up, but I miss being with them. It was special to have my family visit me in South Africa, and it was truly wonderful seeing them. I can’t wait to be reunited with them.”
