South Africans are waking up to another Valentine’s Day, the day model Reeva Steenkamp was tragically murdered by her boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius.

Ironically, the “day of love” would be her last after she was shot dead by Pistorius, who allegedly mistook her for an intruder in his Pretoria mansion.

While Oscar has been given a second chance after being granted parole last month, sadly, the same can’t be said for the bubbly blonde.

REEVA STEENKAMP’S LAST IG POST REMEMBERED GBV VICTIM

Reeva Steenkamp’s last Instagram post was on 10 February 2013 – just four days before her death.

Referencing gender-based violence and the gruesome death of Cape Town woman Anene Booysen, she shared: “I woke up in a happy, safe home this morning. Not everyone did”.

Just a few days later, South Africa would wake up to the tragic news of Reeva’s death. According to Pistorius, he shot and killed his girlfriend after mistaking her for an intruder. However, during his high-profile trial, the court heard evidence of how the former Paralympian was jealous, hot-tempered, and trigger-happy.

VALENTINE’S DAY PREP

On her Twitter, now X account, Reeva Steenkamp also shared her excitement at celebrating another Valentine’s Day, no doubt with boyfriend Oscar Pistorius.

Her last tweet read: “What do you have up your sleeve for your love tomorrow? #getexcited #ValentinesDay”.

When one follower shared their plans of making a special card for her loved ones, Reeva responded: “That sounds amazing! That’s what it’s all about. It should be a day of love for everyone. May it be blessed!”.
