The Super Eagles reached the final stages of the Afcon tournament and walked away with a silver medal on Sunday at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan. This comes after they were beaten 1-2 by Ivory Coast, failing to win a fourth Afcon title.

Nonetheless, just for their achievement in the tournament, President Bola Tinubu is said to have awarded each of the Super Eagles players in abundance, Vanguard reported.

The Super Eagles players were allegedly awarded a national award (Member of the Order of the Niger, MON), flats in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, and a piece of land.

Taking to X, in a statement (the social media platform previously known as Twitter), the President wrote: “I salute the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their tenacious performance in the final of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.

“We won a great victory in the hearts of Africa and the world through our grit, rigour, and determination on the field… My administration is committed to making dreams come true,” the statement read.
