Is Andile Jali among the 22 dismissed Moroka Swallows players?

Embattled PSL side, Moroka Swallows, has announced the dismissal of 22 players following a virtual disciplinary hearing.

DStv Premiership side Moroka Swallows pulled a shocker on Friday, 19 January, when the club announced that it had sacked 22 of its players.

WHY DID MOROKA SWALLOWS FIRE PLAYERS?

In December 2023, Maswaiswai failed to honour their league fixtures against Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows after players went on strike due to alleged unpaid salaries.

As a result, Swallows were slapped with a hefty sanction from the league’s Disciplinary Committee.

The club, under David Mogashoa, has since instituted a virtual disciplinary hearing against the 22 players who did not pitch for the two matches.

Reads part of the disciplinary hearing outcome: “The employees (players) could not honour their fixtures as per the PSL schedule which resulted in their club losing six points and further costing the club to pay an amount equivalent to R400 000 in terms of which about R600 000 has been suspended with terms and conditions. Such kind of misconducts have brought the name itself into disrepute and embarrassment within the football fraternity.

“After consideration of all the factors above, I find the employment relationship cannot be sustained and dismissal is the only appropriate sanction. Generally, is not acceptable to dismiss employees on the first occasion of an incident however some circumstances similar to the case warrant that a sanction of dismissal be militated herein even if the employees are the first transgressors. In the circumstances I submit that the employees be dismissed with immediate effect,” the statement continued.

IS ANDILE JALI ON THE LIST?

Following the news, several football fans were curious to know if former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns star Andile Jali was among the players dismissed by the Dube Birds.

Jali is perceived as a “bad boy” as he has a reputation for being a problematic player. Other “bad boys” include Gabadinho Mhango and Dumisani Zuma, who both survived.
