Former Orlando Pirates, SSU striker Thamsanqa Gabuza arrested

TS Galaxy striker Thamsanqa Gabuza, who also played for SuperSport United, is reportedly expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

Thamsanqa Gabuza, who currently plays for DStv Premiership side TS Galaxy, was arrested on Tuesday, 21 November.

According to Sunday World, the former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United striker is expected to appear at the Alexandra magistrate’s court on Wednesday.

Gabuza is accused of attempted rape, domestic violence and malicious damage to property charges by his ex girlfriend. The 31-year-old woman alleged that the soccer player damaged her cellphone and laptop during the incident which took place at her Sandton home on 11 November.

This is not the first time that Gabuza is accused of domestic violence. In 2017, IOL reported that the former Bafana Bafana player was arrested for physically abusing his girlfriend, Boitshoko Tala.

At the time, she opened a case of common assault against him, as she claimed he manhandled her when an argument ensued between them. In addition, Tala accused him of stealing her belongings worth R40 000.

The statement at the time read in part: “Complaint alleged that she was at the above scene of crime at her boyfriend’s place, Mr Aubrey Thamsanqa Gabuza, a Pirates soccer player. He was beating her and she asked him why he beat her and he said he was beating her because of the phone calls she was receiving. And she gave him the phone so that he can check.

“She managed to push him away and he took (an) electric iron to beat her and he was kicking her. She was lying down, he locked his house and drove off. He took her seven handbags, iPad, house keys, iPhone 6, iPhone 7, total value of items are R40 000. ”
