Today, Friday, 17 November marks the birthday of the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa. Here are five things to know about the beloved President.

1. PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA’S AGE REVEALED

Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa was born on 17 November 1952 in Johannesburg, making him 71 years old today. He moved with his family from Western Native Township to Soweto in 1962, where he would attend his Primary School years at Tshilidzi Primary School, SA Gov reported. He’s later reported to have completed his high school at Mphaphuli High School in Sibasa in Venda in 1971.

2. A LOOK AT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA’S NET WORTH

Cyril Ramaphosa’s net worth is R450 million, Forbes reported. In 2001, Ramaphosa is said to have founded Shanduka, the company that owned stakes in mining entities, financial institutions, McDonald’s South African subsidiaries, and Coca-Cola bottling plants.

3. CYRIL RAMAPHOSA STEPS DOWN IN BUSINESS

According to the publication, since his appointment as deputy president in May 2014 by the former South African President Jacob Zuma, President Cyril Ramaphosa decided to step back from his business pursuits with the aim of avoiding conflicts of interest.

4. THE WOMAN BEHIND THE PRESIDENT:  WHO IS THE FIRST LADY?

The South African President is married to Patrice Motsepe’s sister, Tshepo Motsepe. But before he married the South African billionaire’s sister in 1996, he was previously married to a woman known as Hope from 1978 to 1989. Thereafter, he married a woman known as Nomazizi Mtshotshisa and was married to her from 1991 to 1993. 

The First Lady is successful in her own right. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Briefly reported. And, she also holds a Master of Public Health in Maternal Child Health and Aging and is said to have obtained the qualifications from the Harvard School of Public Health.

5. WHO ARE THE PRESIDENT’S CHILDREN?
