While Bryoni Govender grew up insecure about her “dark skin tone” as a South African Indian, those are a few of the things that have got her noticed at the Miss Universe pageant.

The brunette beauty – a fan favourite – will represent SA at the finals, which take place on Sunday, 19 November, in El Salvador.

BRYONI GOVENDER PRAISED FOR ‘DIFFERENT’ LOOK

In pics posted on the Miss Universe social media account, fans of the pageant have agreed that Bryoni Govender stands out from the crowd, based on her personality and physical appearance.

Notably, pageant vloggers have also praised the 26-year-old law graduate for her “exotic” look.

‘FOR THE MINORITIES’

Bryoni Govender previously spoke to The South African about celebrating her “dark skin tone and pigmented gums.”

In an interview with pageant expert Luis Portelles, the women’s rights activist revealed that she was also proud of her roots and had each Miss Universe outfit curated to represent her Indian South African culture.

She elaborated, “Being different should become your superpower, because that makes you unique. We are all born to stand out, not fit in. Growing up, it can be hard to navigate, but don’t give up!”

Justifying why she should win, Bryoni added: “I should be the next Miss Universe because I embody diversity, not only from my country but from around the world.

“I’m standing for minorities. For women and girls who look like me to know that their differences will become their superpowers”.
