Marise and Handre Pollard are happily married with a baby on the way and things couldn’t be better for the couple.

The Springboks couple who have been together for over a decade have enjoyed some truly special moments with one another. The couple met in 2013 and it was love at first sight and they haven’t looked back. Today, they are a power couple and one of the cutest sports couples in the country. On top of that, they are getting ready to welcome their first little bundle of joy in early 2024. We take a look at how far the couple has come in the ten years that they’ve been together.

MARISE AND HANDRE POLLARD: WHERE IT BEGAN
It started exactly ten years ago. Back in 2013, Marise was a student at the University of Pretoria where she was studying a BED – ECD in Foundation Phase Teaching. Meanwhile, Handre Pollard was plying his trade for the Blue Bulls (who are also based in Pretoria) and was slowly making a name for himself. According to reports, the two of them met on Facebook and began dating.
Marise has admitted that she didn’t think he was her type at first. She joked to Women and Home, “He wasn’t the kind of guy I would usually fall for…But he was incredibly attractive to me! He was strong, muscular, and an introvert.”

It didn’t take long for them to realise that they had something special going on and before long, Marise was an everpresent whenever Handre Pollard was in town. They grew closer until the fly-half decided to go down on one knee and pop the question.
FIRST COMES LOVE, THEN COMES MARRIAGE, THEN…
In 2017, they became Mr and Mrs Marise and Handre Pollard. Their wedding, which was attended by close friends, family and fellow Springboks players, has been widely regarded as one of the most beautiful ceremonies of that year. Since then, they’ve built a strong marriage and now their next adventure is about to begin.

Marise and Handre Pollard are expecting to welcome their first child in April 2024 and they’re both extremely excited about the chapter that’s about to begin. Considering how happy they’ve been so far, it’s safe to say we’re all wishing them another decade of bliss!
