Media personality and businessman DJ Sbu – real name Sibusiso Leope – has told a social media user to show former South African president, Jacob Zuma, some respect.

The MoFaya boss said this following the netizen’s post on X (formerly Twitter).

On Wednesday, popular X user, Cellular, shared a picture of him and Zuma seated together at a restaurant and jokingly said that Msholozi is the one who is privileged to have met him and not the other way around.

“Jacob Zuma finally meets The Coolest Kid In Africa 😂✌🏿What a blessing!” Cellular wrote.

Whilst it seemed DJ Sbu did not have a problem with the joke, he did, however, reprimand the X user for addressing someone much older than him by their name.

In African culture, it is considered rude to refer to anyone old enough to be your parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, by only their name and surname.

“It’s not Jacob Zuma to you he’s either uMkhulu, uBaba or Former President. Congratulations beautiful picture,” DJ Sbu replied.

Last week, actor Tumisho Masha took jabs at the former president whilst praising the current president, Cyril Ramaphosa.

On Saturday, 16 September, the Blood and Water actor likened Zuma and other politiciansto “naughty boys” following a video of them exchanging pleasantries with President Ramaphosa at Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi’s funeral which took place in Mahlabathini, KwaZulu-Natal.

In his post, Masha also dragged Zuma’s daughter, Dudu, who is known for explicitly expressing her disdain for the current president on social media.

“When the headmaster walks in the naughty boys want to laugh and smile with him. We see you. Where’s Dudu now to witness her dad smiling and laughing with the real president of South Africa?”

After being slammed by social media users for his post, Dudu –who is known for her no-holds-barred comments– clapped back at Masha with a screenshot of a 2016 article about the abuse allegations levelled against him by his ex-wife, Zozibini Mtonga.

“We See You Tumisho… Just Like We Saw And Heard That Your Clown Is Not Welcome In KZN But My Dad Got The Biggest Roaring Welcome…” she wrote.

Their mini-feud dragged on until the next day, with Dudu’s comment receiving another post from Masha who said he would not “descend to her level” before labelling her “daddy’s cheerleader”.

“Hi Dudu, thanks for the post. I won’t descend to your level but I believe the people have spoken in your replies. Have a great week ahead and let me know if you need help with a real job other than being your daddy’s cheerleader? Losing court battles every week must be exhaustion, ” the actor wrote.
