Sama nominee Nadia Nakai has had an exceptional year so far, with the announcement of her being a part of Netflix’s new reality series alongside some of Africa’s biggest stars and bagging a Sama nod for her album Nadia Naked she is reaching for the stars.

NADIA AND CASSPER NYOVEST

Nadia has been signed to Cassper Nyovest’s record label Family Tree since the release of her debut album. In an interview with Hip-Hop heavyweight Slikour, she confirmed that she is no longer with Family Tree. She explained that she told Cassper, it’s time for her to do her own thing.

“When I had the conversation with Cass, I was so scared to talk to him. ‘Like listen, I need to do my own thing and whatever.’ And in the beginning I could feel that he was sad, and I think he hung up on me to be honest”.

Cassper reached back out to Nadia and gave her some advice about starting up her new record label and even giving her name ideas for the new label.

‘THE BRAAI SHOW WITH AKA’

Nadia featured on the second season of AKA’s The Braai Show with AKA show earlier this year. On the show, AKA teased Nadia asking if she is allowed to collaborate with him whilst still being signed to Cassper’s label Family Tree.

After appearing on the braai show, Nadia told Slikour that they did not talk for 8 months.

The Money Back rapper did confirm that her and Cassper are cool even though they cut all communication after Nadia appeared on AKA’s braai show.

RELATIONSHIP WITH VIC MENSA

Nadia’s relationship with American rapper Vic Mensa has certainly been the talk of the entertainment industry. She explained that their relationship grew when they shot their music video Practice in Ghana. The music video shoot was also the first time the two rappers met.

“We only were official from when he came to see me in SA. So for me, I thought it was just going to be something to have happened in Ghana and stayed in Ghana but it didn’t cause our relationship grew over the phone.”

She further explained that she wouldn’t have considered a long-distance relationship if it wasn’t with Vic Mensa.
