While he undoubtedly had the best intentions, South African president Cyril Ramaphosa is accused of “jinxing” the Springboks ahead of their Rugby World Cup quarter-final clash against France on Sunday.

This, after he posted a clip of his cellphone conversation with the national team, in which he revealed he had booked a plane ticket to the competition’s final.

But rugby fans are convinced the president has put unnecessary pressure on the team. They’re also worried that Cyril’s words may be a “bad omen” ahead of the highly-anticipated match.

The Boks will take on Les Bleus on Sunday, 15 October, at the Stade De France.
