Kelly Khumalo does not seem to be fazed by the recent allegations put before the court about her by defense lawyer Malesela Teffo in the ongoing Senzo Meyiwa trial.

On Wednesday 1 June when it was revealed that an eyewitness will testify that the musician allegedly shot and killed the late Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, she took to her Instagram Live to tease new music.

A very happy Khumalo told her fans on Instagram that she knows they’ve been waiting for a release from her and explained why it took so long.

The star said that the new song, Bazokhuluma, will be released in July. It features rapper Zakwe and vocalist Mthunzi. Mondli Ngcobo, whom she collaborated with on her controversial track Ngathwala Ngaye, is the producer of Khumalo’s new song.

The chorus of the track is very relatable for Khumalo as it speaks to the fact that people will always have something to say whether you speak or not.

Following the allegations made in court, Magdalene Moonsamy — who is Khumalo’s lawyer — revealed in a media briefing on Thursday 2 June that the singer would like to have her day in court,  Sunday World reported.

Advocate Teffo had said: “I put it to you Mr Mosia that a witness, not just a witness but an eyewitness will testify that Senzo Robert Meyiwa was allegedly shot by Nonhlanhla Kelly Khumalo by mistake, as it is alleged.”

In response to the media, Moonsamy: “We cannot be slamming allegations around without testing them. This is sensationalist. The intimidation of myself and my client has been longstanding. We are not going to fold our arms. We have been silent for too long.”

Khumalo’s lawyer says she and the singer would met to discuss a way forward regarding the allegations made by Teffo and to discuss the eyewitness.

“We will be taking action following these allegations. I am meeting my client this evening. We want to know who is this eyewitness that will testify against my client.”
