The new Mzansi Magic reality TV series Real Housewives of Cape Town (RHOCT) has only just started and there’s already a shady story about the lifestyle of one of the cast members, Kutazwa “Rooksy” Gqirana.

According to the Daily Sun, the reality TV star is accused of owing R158 000 on her rent and her landlady, Dr Rethabile Possa-Mogoera is tired of chasing after her. However, Rooksy is crying defamation.

It is alleged that Rooksy had not paid her rent for eight months, as she only paid for the first two months.

According to her landlady, the businesswoman — who describes herself as a go-getter — moved into her home in February 2020. At the time, she was due to pay a deposit, but she allegedly did do so and would instead bribe Possa-Mogoera and her husband with clothes from her boutique.

Possa-Mogoera told the publication that when they had decided on evicting Rooksy, they could not go through with it because the lockdown laws prevented property owners from evicting tenants.

“We begged her to pay the rent but she wouldn’t. She said the lockdown hurt her business,” Possa-Mogoera said.

Rooksy is alleged to have stayed at Possa-Mogoera’s house until the water was disconnected. Thereafter, she allegedly left and they have been looking for her since.

“She ended up moving after the water was disconnected. It was as if she was trying to sabotage me.

“She owes us R158 000. She only paid rent for the first two months. I now have to pay R2 500 of the water bill every month that she never paid,” the landlady said.

She also claimed that if it wasn’t for RHOCT, she would still be looking for Rooksy, adding that she was shocked when the star claimed to have millions on the show.

However, Rooksy is convinced that Possa-Mogoera is just trying to drag her good name through the mud now that God has elevated her and she’s on TV.

“I have nothing to say. I won’t even involve lawyers,” she was quoted as saying.

RHOCT premiered on Sunday 10 July at 19:00 on Mzansi Magic (Dstv channel 161) and so far, viewers are not quite enjoying it.
