Kagiso Setsetse – who is DJ Sumbody’s business partner and friend – reportedly told the slain musician’s younger brother, Koketso Sefoka, that he will recoup the money his brother allegedly stole from Ayepyep before his murder.

According to Sunday World, Setsetse said this in WhatsApp messages sent to Sefoka in March.

KAGISO SETSETSE’S FIESTY TEXT TO DJ SUMBODY’S BROTHER

Oupa John Sefoka, affectionately known as DJ Sumbody, was gunned down in a hail of bullets in Woodmead, Johannesburg, on 20 November 2022.

“That car will be taken, all the money your brother took unlawfully will be claimed, you will be left with nothing cuz of your f@#k greediness and stupidity. Your brother stole a lot of money through the business name and sponsors have given me proof. I have decided to keep quiet, but now I am going to claim every cent because of your stupidity and evil personality,” read one message from Setsetse to Sefoka.

In response, Sefoka said: “But why are you fighting with Oupa, my brother. What has he done to you for you to be so against him KG. O, big brother and I always asked to be so [sic].”

ALLEGED DEATH THREATS

As reported by The South African in May, Sefoka fears alleged he was receiving threats from Setsetse.

At the time, Sefoka accused Setsetse of denying him and his family information pertaining to the business, despite his mother being appointed the executrix of the estate. He also claimed that Setsetse called his mother dirty and said that he has sole ownership of the business now that DJ Sumbody is no more.

In response, through a statement he sent Sunday World, Setsetse said Koketso should open a case with the police.

He admitted to denying Koketso access to the club, but said he did so because he was harassing staff, the suppliers and interfering with operations.

“Due to the behaviour, we got our attorneys to send him a letter banning him from the premises because they were harassing staff members, I strongly believe in addressing people legally and not taking the law into my own hands. He was never part of the business,” said Setsetse.

In addition, he denied taking full ownership of the business, saying he only owns half.

“I own 50% of the business and my late partner’s estate owns 50%, there is no way I would claim what is not mine when everything is on paper. This will be the current state until the current succession process is finalised, which the attorneys will conclude soon,” said Setsetse.
