In early 2008, Britney Spears was placed on conservatorship by her father, Jamie Spears following mental health concerns. The conservatorship remained stable until 2019 when Britney announced that she would be taking a break from her musical career to focus on challenging her father’s conservatorship. Fast-forward to August 2021, Jamie has finally decided to step down as his daughter’s conservator.

Britney Spears wins the fight against unwanted conservatorship

World-renowned singer Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, finally agreed to step down from his position as her conservator. Court documents filed by Jamie on 12 August this year reveal that he is willing to hand over the reins of his daughter’s life as soon as they can work out a proper plan for the way forward.

This comes after Britney headed to court to contest her father’s position as conservator in 2019. The pop star announced that she was taking a break from her career so that she could focus on regaining control of her life. Shortly after news reports revealed that Britney was planning on fighting for her life back, she gained thousands of supporters who wished to help her get back her freedom.

Jamie has however made it clear that he will only be stepping away once he is sure that Britney’s life will remain in responsible hands.

“The mandate for this Court, as it is for Mr. Spears, is to act in the best interests of the Conservatee, Ms. Spears,” the court documents obtained by Fox News on Thursday read. “To do so, the Court must have accurate and substantiated facts upon which it can rule. Mr. Spears will do his best to provide the factual basis that this Court needs and to cooperate in the transition to a new conservatory.”

The file also continues to say that Jamie hopes to work with Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart to make sure the transition goes smoothly. It also says that there is no need to suspend Jamie’s conservatorship immediately so he will only step down once everything is in order.

“Considering the facts and the actual circumstances that currently exist, an orderly transition based on cooperation would most certainly be in the best interests of Ms. Spears,” it adds. “Regardless of his formal title, Mr. Spears will always be Ms. Spears’ father, he will always love her unconditionally, and he will always look out for her best interests.”

“She will still be under a conservator. Remember, the law firm he tapped said no because of bad publicity. This does not mean nobody will serve in that position.”

“We need to keep the pressure on. Because He’s not gone yet. And who is going in his place? Will this person be his puppet? No. She needs to be free and every cent of her money accounted for.”
