AKA’s tweet resurfaces amid Kairo exploitation claims
Kairo Forbes’ Galaxy 947 Joburg Day performance, which was a tribute to her late father AKA, sparked a debate on social media.

AKA’s legion of fans (known as the Megacy) have been defending his family against claims they are exploiting his daughter Kairo Forbes.
The Lemons (Lemonade) rapper was gunned down along with his friend, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, on 10 February in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

What was meant to be a celebratory and proud moment for the Forbes family when Kairo paid tribute to her late father Kiernan “AKA” Forbes on the Galaxy 947 Joburg Day stage on Saturday, 2 September, turned into nasty attacks from social media trolls on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The 947 concert took place at Crocodile Creek Polo Club in Lanseria with a star-studded line-up.

To honour AKA’s legacy, Kairo (8) as well as the Mega Band performed some of his biggest hits on stage. They were accompanied by some of the late rapper’s friends, collaborators and loved ones including Nadia Nakai, Khuli Chana, Yanga Chief.
While the Megacy supported the idea, some on social media accused the Forbes and Kairo’s mother, DJ Zinhle, of exploiting the bubbly and brave little girl.
“AKA & DJ Zinhle’s daughter Kairo is being exploited, she’s being forced into entertainment & she’ll believe that’s her destiny & nothing else. She’ll cry on stage vele, the boots she has to fill are too big. The kid ain’t had time to chill. Her life has become a bait for clicks,” @advobarryroux wrote.
“It’s not even that for me, after I saw her mother’s IG post, honestly they don’t need to be doing that to that child, she’s 8 guys. Her having to strong up just to put on a show for hundreds of people, who will in turn bully her while still mourning her father, that’s just wrong,” wrote @nubianbella_don.

MEGACY CLAPS BACK USING AKA’S TWEET
To silence the critics and trolls, AKA’s fans resurfaced his old tweet. AKA was known for defending himself and clapping back at the haters.
In one tweet by Company hitmaker, dated 5 July 2019, AKA hits back at trolls disagreeing with a decision he had taken about Kairo who was four years old at the time.
Fans also defended AKA’s family.
“Kairo’s situation is very complex and complicated. Obviously, she’s born in the industry and for it. She’s a celebrity kid, brand ambassador, and has IG followers too. This is plug not exploitation.The only concern is that she just lost her father and can’t grief privately.”
“I am out here trying to understand this exploitation people are talking about? It’s not like Kairo is out there selling T-Shirts, campaigning for people to stream her father’s music, she was not even headlining the show to sell tickets.”
