AKA is said to be embarking on the traditional steps required to ask for Nelli Tembe’s hand in marriage. Here’s what we know so far.

Following the recent news of AKA’s engagement, the rapper is preparing to start lobola negotiations with fiancee Nelli Tembe’s family.
AKA WILL PAY LOBOLA TO NELLI
According to Sunday World, the South African music star will pay lobola for Nelli Tembe’s hand in marriage. The negotiations will reportedly take place at the end of March.
The Victory Lap hitmaker did not disclose the details of the lobola that he would pay for his bride-to-be.
“Unfortunately I cannot talk about that because it is not culturally appropriate as each family has their own ways of doing things traditionally,” AKA told Sunday World.
Sources close to the couple said AKA had sent a letter to Nelli Tembe’s family to ask for her hand in marriage and he informed them he would send a delegation to visit the family.
IS AKA’S MOTHER ON BOARD?
The source also disclosed that there was no clarity on whether AKA’s mother, who liked his former partner DJ Zinhle, was in support of the marriage.
“It is not clear whether AKA’s mother – who was very close to Zinhle – is in support of the new developments,” a source told Sunday World.
However, the fathers are said to get along.
“According to insiders, the fathers get along because they know each other in business circles,” the source said.
WHERE DID THE COUPLE MEET?
The source revealed that the couple met while on holiday in Thailand.
“They have a lot in common and love each [other] naturally; he doesn’t have to try around her,” the source said.
“When he’s with her, he becomes the best version of himself because she is easy to get along with. They get along, they’re friends.”
The source said AKA was a very caring person, contrary to the ego he portrayed in public.
“Don’t be fooled by the ego, that guy is naturally a nice guy, and Nelli and his daughter get along and relate. This is one of the reasons why Kiernan loves her,” the source added, referring to AKA’s real name, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes.
A NEW REALITY SHOW
The couple reportedly are also going to be shooting a reality show showcasing their love. There is no further information on this as yet.
A LOOK AT THE RING
In February, AKA posted a picture of Nelli Tembe’s hand with a whopper of an engagement ring on her finger.
The couple also recently did a shoot together and AKA showed off some behind-the-scenes clips on his social media.
