British songstress Adele Laurie Blue Adkins admitted that she is not fazed about the backlash she received from fans over her weight loss in her One Night Only concert-interview combo with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday 14 November.

ADELE: ‘THAT’S NOT MY JOB’

Adele previously revealed she shed around 100 pounds (45kg) between 2017 and 2019. This was while she was coping with “terrifying anxiety attacks” and her “devastating divorce” from entrepreneur Simon Konecki.

The Hello hitmaker had a One Night Only concert-interview combo with veteran talk show Oprah Winfrey on Sunday 14 November. In the interview, Adele admitted that she is not fazed by the backlash she received from fans over her new physique.

Oprah probed questions about the Rolling in the Deep hitmaker’s fans feeling “betrayed” over her new body.

“I’m not shocked or even fazed by people’s reactions [to her body transformation]. Because my body has been objectified my entire career,” she said.

“I was body-positive then and I’m body-positive now. It’s not my job to validate how people feel about their bodies,” she continued.

“I feel bad if anyone feels horrible about themselves, but that’s not my job. I’m trying to sort my own life out,” she added.

The vocalist attributed her weight loss to killing it in the gym, explaining she could “deadlift” 170 pounds (77kg) at her strongest.

ADELE LEFT ‘DISAPPOINTED’ AFTER SPLIT FROM HUSBAND

The Send My Love hitmaker and her ex-husband Simon Konecki split in 2019 and finalised their divorce in March this year. Adele revealed she was disappointed for her son. The former couple share nine-year-old Angelo.

“From a very young age I promised myself that when I had kids that we’d stay together and we would be that united family and I tried for a really, really long time. I was so disappointed for my son. I was so disappointed for myself,” she said.

“I just said it in front of three of my friends, I was like, ‘I’m really not happy. I’m not living, I’m just plodding along.’ … It was when I admitted to my own friends, who thought I was really happy, that actually I’m really unhappy, and they were all aghast,” she continued.
