The Democratic Alliance (DA) has announced the names of candidates nominated to stand for election to Party Leadership roles at the DA Gauteng Provincial Congress on 12 August 2023.

DA GEARING UP FOR PROVINCIAL LEADERSHIP ELECTIONS

DA Provincial Media Research Officer Franco van der Berg cited that the province will be hosting close to one thousand delegates, each one an integral part of charting the party’s way forward to the crucial 2024 elections.

“The congress promises to be the final part of a well-run election race for prospective candidates, including provincial leadership.”

Meanwhile, earlier this year, former Johannesburg mayor Mpho Phalatse announced that she wants to enter the race to become the next leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA).

She said that the DA needs a dynamic leader who is familiar with the concept of ‘servant leadership’. The announcement came a few days after her ousting as Johannesburg mayor during a no-confidence vote. However, her contest was unsuccessful as Steenhuisen successfully reclaimed his position.
