Kabza De Small’s new album, King Of Amapiano II Part 1 features the likes of Young Stunna, Ami Faku, Daliwonga, DJ Maphorisa, Felo Le Tee and many more. The album is a follow-up to the producer’s 2020 album, I Am The King Of Amapiano.

Speaking on the rise of amapiano, Kabza De Small said the genre was for the youth.

“Amapiano is not something that was involved with a lot of things. Like now, this is when they are starting to brand amapiano,” said the producer.

“Amapiano development on its own, do you understand? You must know, like labels and stuff… We started this thing from scratch. There wasn’t too much sampling and stuff; those things are only starting now. It’s something that was innovated.”

Kabza De Small has been chosen as the cover artist for Spotify’s global mint playlist in celebration of African sounds. The curated playlist features some of the biggest global dance hits from across the globe.

Kabza De Small has also been honoured with a billboard in the centre of New York’s Times Square.

“We’re so honoured to platform Kabza and his work in his way,” said Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu.

“And as part of commemorating such a deeply significant day for the African diaspora as Juneteenth (18 June), we’re celebrating not only Kabza’s musical innovation but the ingenuity and global influence of Black cultural creation across the globe.”
