‘Ozark’ star Julia Garner selected as frontrunner for Madonna biopic
‘Future Oscar winner’? American actress Julia Garner is reportedly expected to accept the role of Madonna for the singer’s biopic.

Emmy award-winning actress Julia Garner has stunned audiences with her role as Ruth Langmore in Netflix’s Ozark and Anna Delvy in the Shonda Rhimes-produced drama series, Inventing Anna. After a ‘grueling’ audition process, several actresses were considered to play Madonna in the American singer’s upcoming biopic and Variety reports that Julie Garner has been offered the role.

INSIDE THE CASTING PROCESS
According to Marie Clare, Madonna said she wanted to use the biopic to “convey the incredible journey” of being an artist, musician, dancer and “a human being trying to make her way in the world.”
In 2020, Madonna said the biopic would also detail her “struggle as an artist trying to survive in a man’s world as a woman”.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Julie Garner, Florence Pugh, Emma Laird, Odessa Young and Euphoria star Alexa Demie were in the running to play Madonna.
A source described the audition process as “gruelling”.
JULIA GARNER SCORES THE ROLE
According to Variety, Julia Garner has come out on top as the actress who could play Madonna in the upcoming biopic. The publication adds that the 28-year-old actress was named a “frontrunner” for the role after the auditions.
The Ozark star’s team is reportedly considering the offer and is “expected” to accept the role.
The biopic is set to be produced by Universal Films and American film producer Amy Pascal has been chosen as a producer.

TWEEPS REACT
Reacting to the news of Julia Garner scoring the role of Madonna, one tweep speculates that the star actress could be in the running for an Oscar Award.
“Future Oscar winner Julia Garner LESGO,” wrote one tweep.
“Julia Garner is one of those actresses who you may not know well and she might not be your fav but you can guarantee she’s going to give a knockout performance in any role,” wrote another tweep.
