EFF leader Julius Malema said on Sunday that the Springbok rugby team must get a new name and symbol to represent South Africa’s democracy. He tweeted that the Springboks is an apartheid symbol. One can’t help thinking that this is a stunt for attention. The very same Malema and party celebrated and congratulated the Springboks shortly after their win. Malema, also called Springbok captain Siya Kolisi “My Captain” on social media. Speaking at the party’s Gauteng elections workshop in Johannesburg, Malema described the Springboks as a team that was celebrated by ‘murderers’, like PW Botha, the former National Party head of state.
