The City of Cape Town continues to grapple with the weather impacts of the severe rainfall that hit the metro on Wednesday and Thursday. In an update on Thursday, 15 June, the City reported a number of incidents including mudslides, river overflow, and extensive flooding in various areas. Efforts to alleviate the flooding continue, with a focus on unblocking stormwater systems that have become overwhelmed. Mudslides occurred in the Oudeskip area of Hangberg, Hout Bay. The Eerste River/Kuils River burst its banks, resulting in flooding properties in Zandvlei, Macassar. The Mosselbank River also burst its banks – affecting Philadelphia and Klipheuwel residents. “The Keyser River is a concern as it bursts its banks again.
