Sims 4: Expansion packs on huge discount ahead of EA Play

If you missed out on The Sims 4 being free to download recently, you have another chance. While not free this time, Origin and EA are running a massive discount on the game and all of its expansion, game and stuff packs.

If you’re new to The Sims and you’ve just started playing, you’ll know that this is a big deal.

Expansion packs are selling for around R270 on Origin with game packs going for around R160 and stuff packs for around R80.

This massive sale as well as the base game having been free to download comes just ahead of EA Play. And it’s sparked a slew of excitement, annoyance and rumours in the Sims community.

Those of us who paid full price for the game and its expansions are pretty annoyed. We can just about shelve our annoyance at the promise of some big gameplay changes coming to the game very soon, though.

The push to make the game more cheaply available makes it pretty obvious that The Sims 4 team are trying to get new players hooked as they look to launch… well… we don’t know quite what yet.

The Sims 4 June 2019 expansion pack rumours

We all know Sims 4 is due for some big changes this year. Support for Windows 32 bit will stop with the next patch. Many Simmers believe that this points to some huge changes coming to gameplay.

The team confirmed that they are working on three new releases in the next six months. We also know that the next update will bring 350 new swatches to the base game. Yep, we might finally get those black and white doors we’ve been begging for.

What they haven’t confirmed is what these might be and when they will be released.

The team did reveal that there will be “lots” to show at EA Play this coming weekend.

How to get The Sims 4 and expansions discounted

The discounts across The Sims 4 franchise will apply until 20 June – incidentally, the date before the rumoured release date for whatever new expansion is coming.

All you need to do is head over to Origin and buy the packs you want and begin playing.

The Sims 4: Is some sort of Island Life expansion coming?

For the last few weeks, there have been loads of unconfirmed leaks pointing towards an Island Life type of expansion pack. It’s been pure speculation but Simmers who want mermaids or the ability to create a tropical paradise have been getting excited beyond belief.
