If lockdown blues became too much to handle this week, chin up! Epic Games Store teased us with that pesky mystery announcement timer in the store. And we know what the big secret was.

Yep, the rumours were true! Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 is now free for PC from the Epic platform. However, you won’t be able to download it just yet, because the site crashed.

If you missed last week’s freebie, Death Coming, you’d still be able to purchase it at full price from this week.

Grand Theft Auto 5

Honestly, this one needs no introduction. How do we know it’s GTA 5 if the site is down? Well, they accidentally shared a tweet before the announcement was to be released.

Needless to say, the tweet was removed as soon as they realised what happened, but it’s was already too late. However, eagle-eyed fans took receipts and shared it far and wide.

GTA 5 – which was developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games back in 2013 – an action-adventure and the fifth instalment in the GTA series that was originally launched in 2008.

You can either play from a first-person on over-the-shoulder perspective; use melee attacks, firearms and explosives to get the job done and work your way through the story.

GTA 5 raked in good reviews and high scores for years now. Metacritic gives it 97/100 while Edge, Famitsu, Games Radar+, and IGN gave it a full score.

According to Game Informer and Play, GTA5 deserves a 9.75 out of 10, while GameSpot, Eurogamer and Joystiq all went with 9 out of 10. But we didn’t expect anything less, obviously.

Furthermore, Jeff Bakalar from CNET describes it as “hands-down a must, play, an instant classic”, and adds:

Without a doubt, Grand Theft Auto V is one of, if not the most immersive video games ever created that completely transforms you into one of its three uniquely developed characters.

Death Coming

Death Coming– which was developed and published by NExT Studios back in November 2016 – is a strategy puzzle game with minimum system requirements. You will need 500MB of available space.

“‘Death Coming’ is a non-linear puzzle game where you must harvest human souls ‘Final Destination’ style. However, pesky mortals are not your only problem, as the Agents of Light will do everything they can to stop you.”

Andy Chalk from PC Gamer says the basic concept of the game is “fairly straightforward”, while a review from IGN mentions “cute graphics” and an original approach.
