Costume Quest

Developed and published by Double Fine Productions, Costume Quest usually retails for R60. The role-playing game (RPG) is described as a Halloween adventure in which your hero trick-and-treats beautiful environments.

Award-winning veteran Tim Schafer worked on the development of Costume Quest, and it shows. Schafer is dedicated to making high quality games with emphasis on originality and, most importantly, fun.

“Double Fine Dose it again! With a funny creative innovate new game! The combat is really fun and the costumes are amazing also with the graphs and jokes. I recommend getting this for Halloween”.

SOMA

Developed and published by Frictional Games, SOMA is a sci-fi horror game with an “unsettling story about identity, consciousness, and what it means to be human”. If you forget to download it this week, you’d be able to still purchase the game from the Epic Store for R195.

“The radio is dead, food is running out, and the machines have started to think they are people. Underwater facility PATHOS-II has suffered intolerable isolation and you’re going to have to make some tough decisions. What makes sense? What is left to fight for?”

Frictional Games

According to IGN Africa, SOMA feels weighty “but never dry or ponderous”. Daniel Krupa confirms that the story is “engaging and surprising,” but add that the “exploration elements are much less memorable”.

“In terms of plot and ideas, SOMA is fascinating, but when it comes to the moment-to-moment gameplay it has fewer original ideas.”
