After several days of losses, Bitcoin has once again retested the $10,400 resistance, with several altcoin markets reporting gains on the day as a result. Here are your latest cryptocurrency news and prices. 

Latest Bitcoin (BTC) news and prices

Craig Wright, the self-proclaimed creator of Bitcoin recently challenged a court order which would require him to pay 500,000 BTC to the estate of a former peer. 

On August 30, Andres Rivero, Wright’s attorney filed a document with the United States District Court in the Southern District of Florida to ask for a two-week extension to file a motion which would effectively challenge Magistrate Bruce Reinhart’s order.

Latest Ethereum (ETH) news and prices

Yesterday, we discussed a few key resistances for ETH price near the $172 and $175 levels against the US Dollar. The price rallied recently and broke the $175 resistance level. Moreover, there was a close above the $175 level and the 100 hourly simple moving average. More importantly, bitcoin price performed really well and surged above the $10,000 and $10,200 resistance levels.

However, Ethereum price ran into a crucial resistance area near $180 (as discussed in the weekly forecast). It faced a strong resistance and failed to continue higher above $180. A swing high was formed near $182 and the price is currently correcting gains. It traded below the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the recent rally from the $168 swing low to $182 high.

Bitcoin has swung higher after a sudden sell-off last week, climbing back above the psychological $10,000 per bitcoin mark.

The bitcoin price added almost $1,000 in just a few hours yesterday, climbing some 6% over the 24-hour trading period, though many other major coins, including Ripple’s XRP, failed to make similar recoveries—with a civil war apparently brewing among the XRP community.

Tether (USDT) news and prices

Stablecoin developer Tether is reportedly toying with the idea of releasing coins backed by commodities, according to Bitfinex shareholder Zhao Dong. Dong, who previously revealed that Tether was planning to launch the Chinese yuan-pegged coin CNHT, has once again touted the company’s next move.

According to comments made in an interview with Bitkan, Dong says that Tether is considering issuing stablecoins backed by bulk commodities such as gold, crude oil, and rubber. While Dong is not directly affiliated with the stablecoin company, he is an investor in the cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex which shares some overlap. Dong has also been tied to previous market rumors that proved accurate, such as the case of the yuan-pegged CNHT.

Binance Coin (BNB) news and prices

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has launched not one, but two test platforms for its planned crypto futures products.

Dubbed Futures A and Futures B, the new testnets are now open for users to play with using dummy assets, with new competitions to encourage traders to get involved.

On Monday, Binance announced on its website that users will be able to vote for their favorite futures testnet.

As for the competitions, Binance said it will award prizes totaling 10,000 Binance coin (BNB) – worth around $215,700 at press time – for each platform.
