Usain Bolt tests positive for COVID-19 after birthday mayhem

Usain Bolt has tested positive for the coronavirus days after mask-free 34th birthday party which Raheem Sterling and Chris Gayle both attended

World-record sprinter Usain Bolt has tested positive for the coronavirus and is in self-quarantine at his home in Jamaica days after celebrating his 34th birthday with a massive, mask-free party.

Usain Bolt’s girlfriend, Kasi Bennett, threw the Athletics star a mask-free 34th birthday party in Jamaica last week Friday. Amongst the various sporting stars in attendance were Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and West Indies cricket star Chris Gayle.

Usain Bolt, on Saturday, confirmed that he would be going into self-isolation following Friday’s party while contacting all of those that came into contact with him during his party.

Usain Bolt tests positive for COVID-19

Usain Bolt was unaware of the result of his COVID-19 test however Jamaica’s Minister of Health Dr Christopher Tufton confirmed Bolt has tested positive according to the Jamaican Observer.

“This weekend, like everybody else, I checked social media and saw social media say that I’m confirmed of COVID-19. I did a test on Saturday to leave Jamaica because I have work.” Usain Bolt said via his official Instagram account.

“I am trying to be responsible so I am going to stay in and be safe. Also, I am having no symptoms, I will quarantine myself and wait on the confirmation to see what is the protocol and to see how I go about quarantining myself from the Ministry of Health.

“Until then, I will call my friends and tell them once they came in contact with me to be safe, quarantine and take it easy.”

Raheem Sterling tests negative

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has tested negative for COVID-19 following Usain Bolt’s glamorous birthday Bash. Sterling is currently on his off-season break ahead of the new season England Premier League season which gets underway on 12 September.

Kings XI Punjab will also be nervously awaiting the results of star batsman Chris Gayle who came into contact with Usain Bolt at his party. Gayle is due to arrive in the United Arab Emirates in the coming days ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League season which gets underway on September 19.
