Maritzburg United 0(1)-0(3) Platinum Stars, Harry Gwala stadium

After nine league matches without a victory, it tool a change of competition and the lottery of a penalty shootout for Platinum Stars to finally register their first win of the season. Dikwena triumphed 3-1 on penalties over Maritzburg United after 120 minutes of football yielded no goals at the Harry Gwala stadium on Friday.

Golden Arrows 0-1 Orlando Pirates, Princess Magogo stadium

At Princess Magogo stadium, Thabo Qalinge’s first half strike was enough to hand Orlando Pirates a place in the quarterfinals, knocking out Golden Arrows in the process.

Polokwane City 0(4)-0(3) Ajax Cape Town, Old Peter Mokaba stadium

It was the home side that were victorious at the Old Peter Mokaba stadium on Saturday as Polokwane City held their nerve at the penalty shootout to defeat Ajax cape Town 4-3 after it ended goalless at regulation time.

Bloemfontein Celtic 2(5)-2(4) Supersport United, Dr Molemela stadium

Bloem Celtic staged a remarkable comeback against Supersport United at the Dr Molemela stadium, coming back from two goals down to force the match into extra time, and eventually penalties. The home side ensured their way into the next round winning the shootout 5-4.

Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 AmaZulu, Moses Mabhida stadium

The most convincing victory of the weekend belonged to Kaizer Chiefs as they put AmaZulu to the sword at Moses Mabhida stadium on Saturday evening, winning 3-0. Goals from George Maluleka and Hendrick Ekstein created an uphill climb for Usuthu, before veteran Siphiwe Tshabalala put the result beyond doubt after an hour’s play.

Bidvest Wits 4-2 Free State Stars, Bidvest stadium

Bidvest Wits and Free State Stars played to a 4-2 thriller at the Bidvest stadium. The two sides were deadlocked at 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes before Amr Gamal and James Keene netted for the home side to ensure the game does not go to penalties.
