Stellies on the other hand, needed a result to push for a top-eight finish to play in the MTN8 next season and they made life difficult for the home team.

SuperSport failed to find rhythm for most of the match which left their coach Gavin Hunt frustrated on the touchline.

“I thought we weren’t very good, I thought they were better than us Stellenbosch tonight. I thought their football intelligence was much better than us, they played balls at the right areas at the right time and we didn’t do that,” Hunt told SuperSport TV after the game.

“If we don’t play with the right intensity, we’re a very average team. We were way below the races.

“We have two games left, it’s going to be tough for us but we’ll keep trying.”
