The Jaguares beat the Lions 49-35 in Buenos Aires on Saturday, when the two teams thrashed out an 11-try Super Rugby thriller.

The Lions are yet to beat the Jaguares in Argentina after three attempts.

It was a tough Super Rugby weekend for South Africa’s teams, with only the Stormers managing a win.

The home side had already been beaten by the Lions in this season’s competition – in the home leg of the fixture on their opening weekend – but they shook off the cobwebs and drew from their past record in Argentina to notch up a win.

The South Americans were ahead within 45 seconds through a Bautista Delguy try, led 25-14 at half-time and responded swiftly when the Lions twice closed the gap to four points.

Jaguares winger Emiliano Boffelli and loose forward Javier Ortega Desio and Lions hooker Malcolm Marx scored two tries each.
