Notably, it was quite recently reported that Pirates could be monitoring the situation of Lesedi Kapinga, who has left Mamelodi Sundowns. The 27-year-old had joined Sundowns on a five-year deal in the summer of 2020, but in a squad filled with immense competition for places, he failed to get much game-time and has gone in search of other opportunities.

According to Rushsportson, Pirates and Kapinga have in fact reached a verbal agreement and the Soweto giants are now awaiting his medical report.

Meanwhile, it’s further reported by Soccer Laduma that Pirates could also be regaining interest in pursuing Kenyan striker Benson Omala as they look to further bolster their attacking department.

“They have gone back to enquire about Kenyan striker Benson Omala whom they had wanted before. This time it’s serious and things could happen before the registration window closes.”

PIRATES SEEMS TO FIT THE BILL FOR KAPINGA

Looking ahead to what could come next for the midfielder, he has clearly stated that all he wants is a club where he can feel at home.

“I leave that to my agent, and I will speak to him maybe from Monday when I get to Joburg,” said Kapinga as per Times Live. “I feel like right now it’s only a matter of me getting in a space where I’m going to play. [I want] a team that is going to appreciate me.

“I just feel like sometimes it’s good not to know a lot of things about it. If Sundowns works for other players, it doesn’t mean it will work for me. I just must focus on my career and build myself again.”
