Last time out
Barcelona earned a workmanlike 1-0 win over Levante in a La Liga match up over the weekend.
A single Lionel Messi goal would help Barcelona clinch the title and the great man now has his sites set on Liverpool and ultimately Champions League glory.
Liverpool do not have the league title in the bag but they are still in the race and have turned on the style in recent weeks.
Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were in deadly form against a Huddersfield team who saw their gameplan ripped apart just 14 seconds into the contest. The Liverpool press was in immediate effect and a scrambling defence offered a gift to Salah, who poked through to Naby Keita who rolled it into the corner of the Terriers net. That gave Liverpool control of the game and the five goals they hammered in could easily have been more.
In the Champions League
Barcelona faced English opposition in the previous round and had no trouble in dismissing Manchester United from the Nou Camp with a 3-0 defeat.
The Catalans had to work hard for their 1-0 win at Old Trafford in the first leg but never looked troubled on their own patch.
Liverpool continued their love affair with the Estadio Dragao, the scene of their 2018 Valentine’s day massacre of FC Porto played host to another humiliation of their hosts this time 4-1.
The Reds had put Porto away 2-0 at Anfield but the visitors put up a great fight and created a number of great chances.

In the away leg Liverpool came out of the gate quickly and soon had their reward with Mane making the critical breakthrough on 26 minutes.
