Andilie Jali has left Mamelodi Sundowns but there are at least four players likely to join him in the departures hall in the next few weeks.

Sundowns will bring in new players to keep improving their title-winning squad, the club’s head coach Rhulani Mokwena has confirmed.

After six Premiership titles in a row Sundowns will not take their foot off the pedal. So that’s a big warning to any prospective rivals.

Sundowns won the title as Mokwena took charge and instilled excellent discipline in his team. But he wants more improvement from Sundowns if his latest comments are anything to go by.

The contract between Mamelodi Sundowns and Andile Jali which was due to conclude at the end of the current season, has been terminated by mutual consent. That opens up a new player to come in with more on the way.

MOKWENA PROMISES IMPROVEMENT

For sure, like any big club [there will be players leaving and signed], we have a responsibility to improve,” Mokwena said this week.

“The first way to improve and the most important way, is more, more work – more training, more video [analysis], more development, more ideas, more advancement.

“We have to work a lot harder, give a little bit more and then try to bring in better players, which is very difficult because of the level [of players] we have, try to raise the standard and the energy in the club.

Lesedi Kapinga, Gift Motupa, Mosa Lebusa and Erwin Saavedra have all been strongly linked with a permanent exit from Sundowns.
