Kaizer Chiefs won’t be playing continental football next season as they are destined to finish fourth in the Dstv Premiership.

The league race was run a long time ago. Since Sundowns are impossible to beat, all attention has centred on the race for second.

But Chiefs failed dismally in that challenge and now, they are going to miss out on the CAF Confederation Cup spot too.

Sekhukhune United, finalists in the Nedbank Cup, will play in next season’s edition and will be joined by SuperSport United.

This is because there’s no ways Chiefs are going to turn around the four-point deficit to SuperSport.

They play each other this weekend and then Chiefs have to entertain Cape Town City.

CHIEFS’ REMAINING LEAGUE MATCHES:

Saturday, 13 May v SuperSport United (A) – 15:00

Our prediction: At the very least, SuperSport United will earn a point in this contest to end Chiefs’ hopes of a top three finish. The visitors have lost two of their last three which is hardly the form they need to try edge Matsatsantsa.

Gavin Hunt boasted about his transfer policy compared to Chiefs.

“You have to compare what we have spent with the other teams. We have not spent R1 on any player this season in comparison to how the opposition have spent,” said Hunt.

Our prediction: Okay, so if a miracle happens and Chiefs close the gap on SuperSport to one point with a victory. Then Chiefs still don’t have it in their own hands. Will they definitely beat Cape Town City on the final day? Nope … a draw is more likely. Plus SuperSport have what it takes to down Sekhukhune United on the final day, the home team there will be resting players with the Cup final looming.
