Orlando Pirates legend Lucky Lekgwathi has opened up on the difficulty the Buccaneers face in the DStv Premiership.

Jose Riveiro’s side are desperate to lift the DStv Premiership title this season, but standing in their way are a rampant Mamelodi Sundowns side.

Coupled with Rhulani Mokwena’s side, is the fact that everyone wants to beat the Buccaneers according to Lucky Lekgwathi.

According to the former Bucs captain, all PSL teams pull out their ‘a-game’ when they face the Buccaneers.

Biggest challenge Orlando Pirates face – Lucky

“Eish. It’s difficult and very hard playing for Orlando Pirates. Every team comes hard on Pirates. A team can lose a simple game in the previous match but when they come to face Pirates they change and pull up their socks.” Lucky Lekgwathi told SoccerLaduma.

“That’s why you see even teams that are struggling doing well against Pirates. It is a motivation to play against Pirates.”

In other news, Orlando Pirates began their 2023/24 CAF Champions League journey on Saturday afternoon when they face Djabal FC.

The Buccaneers made the long trip to the island of Comoros to face Djabal FC.

Jose Riveiro’s side were expected to blow their Comoros opponents away however the minnows put up an incredible performance against the Soweto giants.

Despite their bravery, Zakhele Lepasa was on hand to once again deliver for his side!

The Orlando Pirates star opened the scoring in the 87th minute with a finish from close range.

Today’s match was the first of the two legged tie, with the second leg taking place next weekend in Soweto.
