Orlando Pirates might be about to make an unpopular decision in the transfer market by entertaining offers for a fan favourite.

Buccaneers consider selling Makaringe

30-year-old attacking midfielder Fortune Makaringe has been a bit-part player for the Sea Robbers this term. The talented number 10, who wears 11 on his back, has featured only 10 times in the league this term. Since joining from Maritzburg in 2019, Makaringe has made 147 appearances for Pirates across all competitions. His current deal expires at the end of June. A recent report from Soccer Laduma suggests that Sekhukhune United are trying to lure him over.

“They [Orlando Pirates management] already know that there are clubs that want Makaringe and it’s not only those two (Sekhukhune and Polokwane City),” a source told the Citizen.

“They hear these things and people always talk. I guess that’s how it is with a lot of people, once a player doesn’t play much they think that he is leaving the team and they want to enquire about his services. But, there hasn’t been any formal talks about Makaringe, he is a Pirates player,” said the source.

“I think these teams who want him should just make a formal offer and the club will decide on whether they still need him or not. Another thing is that everything depends on the player because he has a contract with the club,” the report concluded.

Young Africans SC star Stephane Aziz Ki, a full Burkina Faso international, has rejected a pre-contract offer from Pirates. Born in the Ivory Coast, Stephane Aziz Ki has 12 caps and two goals for the Burkinabes. This season, the 28-year-old has 20 direct goal contributions in the Tanzanian Premier League this term. He also has two goals and two assists from 12 outings in the CAF Champions League. This guy knows his way to the goal.

“I have no expectations of leaving Yanga because I have not achieved the goals that brought me here. This club, which I love with all my heart, still owes me, and even money cannot fill my for this club,” said Aziz Ki on his future after links with Pirates as per The Citizen
