Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena has confirmed that a number of his Bafana Bafana are doubtful for tonight’s clash against Orlando Pirates.

The Brazilians host rivals Pirates at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday night, but a number of key players are likely to miss out.

No less than eight Sundowns players who were out in the Ivory Coast with Bafana Bafana at AFCON 2023 are struggling with various injuries!

Eight Sundowns players in doubt for Pirates clash

“So we have some concerns with Motobi [Mvala], we have some concerns with [Thapelo] Maseko. We have some concerns with Mshishi. We have some concerns with Teboho [Mokoena] and [Khuliso] Mudau, and with Mudau it’s also the ankle, so there’s some concerns there.” Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena told iDiskiTimes.

“And they’ve got to start now the rehabilitation phase, but also a regeneration phase because they’ve got to flush out the stress and the pressures of the tournament of that magnitude.

“And so psychologically, there needs to be some some work done there and refreshing of the mind, and so they’re ready to be competitive again for Sundowns. We’ve also got concerns with Ronza with the shoulder. But let’s see.”

Mothibi on potential Lorch booing!

“I am not able to say who mustn’t boo who and I do not have control over that. Lorch has been a fan favourite at Pirates and if the supporters feel that booing him to unsettle him is something that will work for the team against Sundowns, I won’t blame them.” Orlando Pirates legend James Mothibi told SoccerLaduma.

“But I am not condoning the booing of players especially if it’s done in an appropriate manner. My understanding is that in football you can unsettle the opposition (Sundowns) in an appropriate way if you feel that will help your team to win the match.”
