Stellies part ways with ex-Kaizer Chiefs winger with immediate effect

Stellenbosch FC have parted ways with former Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota after just six months. The club confirmed on Monday.

Stellenbosch Football Club has confirmed that they have parted ways with former Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota with immediate effect.

Sekgota joined Stellies from Amakhosi at the start of the current season and made 17 appearances across all competitions, helping the team win the 2023 Carling Knockout trophy in the process.

“We would like to thank him for his service over the last six months and wish him well in his future endeavours,” the club posted on their website on Monday.

Having struggled to make an impact at Kaizer Chiefs, Sekgota was hoping Stellies would give him the perfect opportunity to display his talent but the winger didn’t do much for the Cape-based side.

The 26-year-old spent two years with Kaizer Chiefs but under utilised by both Stuart Baxter and Arthur Zwane.

Sekgota only lasted six months at Stellies

The former Bidvest Wits winger, who has plied his trade in Portugal and Lithuania, will hope the move to his new club will help him reach his best again.

Sekgota won’t return to his former clun as Kaizer Chiefs have ruled out signing any players until the end of the season.
