Shock PSL club planning ambitious Itumeleng Khune signing from Kaizer Chiefs!
A PSL side is said to be ready to offer big bucks to prolong the playing career of Itumeleng Khune after his Kaizer Chiefs contract expires!

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune could be set for a shock transfer to another PSL club according to reports!

Khune has been a one club man since being promoted to the Chiefs first team as far back as 2004.

Over the years, Khune has been a stalwart for Chiefs, being their number one goalkeeper for well over a decade. In recent years, however, the 36-year-old has been plagued by both injuries and lack of form, which have since seen him dropped. With the club failing to find a regular goalkeeper to finally cement that position, they have often found themselves calling on their veteran goal minder time and time again.

That was the case at the end of last season, before Chiefs opted to give Brandon Petersen a chance to grow in the number one jersey this season. A combination of poor form and mental health issues then saw the former Bidvest Wits star back on the sidelines at the club, with Khune, again the go to man. This time around though, the former long-term Bafana Bafana number one did not show the form he was expected to. To further compound matters, he was recently suspended by the club and stripped off the captains armband for disciplinary reasons.

Now having come back with a bang for the Carling All Stars XI with a Man of the Match performance, the country got to see yet another glimpse of what he is still capable of in front of the sticks. Now with Chiefs making a statement at the start of the season that Khune will retire and him coming out to say he isn’t ready to do so, he might have to find another club next season.

Khune will be available on a free transfer should he leave Chiefs and now according to Soccer-Laduma he has attracted the shock interest of Sekhukhune United!
Sekhukhune interested in taking Khune away from Chiefs?
“The Siya crew has been informed that Sekhukhune United are watching proceedings down Naturena way with keen interest and have made it known that should the Glamour Boys (Chiefs) not renew his (Khune) contract, they would break the bank to bring him to their headquarters.” Wrote the publication.

It then remains to be seen if Khune will follow Chiefs’ instructions and call time on his career. Or will he fulfil his own wishes and play on, with Sekhukhune an option.
