Mokwena reveals Sirino’s apology, proud of Sundowns

Proud Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena reveals that midfielder Gaston Sirino issued an aopology to the club.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena is proud of his troops and reveals that midfielder Gaston Sirino issued an apology to the club.

Mokwena guided a limping Sundowns in a Carling Knockout Cup clash against TS Galaxy but they were booted out of the competition.

After the match, Mokwena heaped praise on his Sundowns players including Sirino who were reduced to 10 men at Mbombela Stadium.

MOKWENA ON SIRINO’S APOLOGY TO SUNDOWNS

While there was speculation that Sirino tabled a transfer request as he wanted to leave Sundowns, he was included in the match-day squad.

Towards the dying stages of the cup match, Mokwena gave Sirino a chance and he scored the equaliser for Sundowns.

“Life rewards you when you do good, the club did good by accepting his (Sirino) apology and the player also did good by apologising and recognising his wrongs,” Mokwena said per The Citizen.

MOKWENA ON DEFEAT AND HIS MESSAGE TO INJURED PARKER

The 36-year-old Sundowns mentor also took time to send his message to injured Galaxy striker, Bernard Parker.

Parker sustained a horrible injury as he was tackled by Bongani Zungu, The South African understands that he has suffered two broken bones.

“Let me start by congratulating the opposition TS Galaxy and their coach (Sead Ramovic) for making it to the next round,” Mokwena adds.

“Let me also congratulate my players for an incredible comeback, they showed good integrity and kept fighting.

“We are very proud of them and for sure it counts for nothing because at the end of the day, we are out on penalties once again but we have to move on.

“Which team gets to play a day after the national team played and has five players in the starting line-up? We are the first team to do that but no one will care.

“The blame will be on the coach but that’s the job I chose and that’s the responsibility I will take.

“I can only wish Bernard Parker a speedy recovery and I hope it’s not as serious as it looks.

“Knowing Bongani, I know he’s not malicious. There was no malicious intent to it, the only thing that I can do is to wish Parker a speedy recovery.”
